Frequently Asked Questions

School fees are paid monthly over 11 months. If you would like to pay for the year in advance, you qualify for an 8% discount provided the amount is paid by 31 January. All stationery, toiletries, outings and screenings are included in the fees.

The uniqueness of Linkside Pre-Primary is that we offer the two years – namely Gr 00 (4 years old turning 5 within the year) and Gr R (5 years old turning 6 within the year). The boys benefit from the foundation of the Gr 00 year and are well-prepared for their Gr R year.

We attract boys from the wider Gqeberha area. Criteria that is considered is: if your son is at a recognized Play School; has an understanding of English; age appropriate for the grade.

No we do not – the parents provide a packed lunch for school as well as Aftercare.

The gate opens at 07h30 and the school day starts at 07h55. The end of the day is 12h30 and Aftercare commences at 12h40 until 17h00.

The Gr 00 learners follow the Know Your Child programme which concentrates on their perceptual skills through concrete experiences and covers their physical, emotional, social and academic development.

The Grade R classes follow the CAPS (Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements) as prescribed by the Department of Education in preparation for the challenges of Grade 1.

Sharon Westcott

  • 4 year Higher Diploma in Pre-Primary Education at Barkly House Teachers College, Cape Town
  • 1984 -1997 – Head of Pre-Primary at Sydenham Primary
  • 1997 – present – Principal and teacher at Linkside Pre-Primary
  • I am very privileged to be doing what I love. I am passionate about Linkside Pre-Primary and take my work in the classroom very seriously.
  • My aim for the boys is that they are happy, they try their best and they are liked by the other boys.
  • My goal is to instill confidence in the boys so that they can answer or question without feeling nervous, embarrassed or afraid. We follow a no-stress policy in my class – rather a ‘let’s make a plan’ policy.  Every boy is important to me and I look for the shy boy to give him the courage to speak up.
  • I also want to instill in the boys a love for learning and finding out things.
  • Our everyday goal is to always have FUN while we are learning!
