About Us

We Value Family

The parents and pupils have played a big role over the past 50 years with their support and involvement to slowly build the school into what it is today.  From the early beginnings when fundraising was necessary to help stock the classes, to more recent times when fundraising in the form of our Golf Day, Moms Conference, Music Trivia, Bike ‘n Trike, and Easter Walk has been used to add quality to a well-established school.

We pride ourselves on the relationships we have formed with our families and our biggest joy is meeting up with past families or hearing the gate bell ring because someone wants to pop in to say hello! Our Linkside brand today is thanks to every parent who has donated, supported, become involved, been a great ambassador, and trusted us with their most precious possession.  Each class has an Air Conditioner which helps the boys learn effectively in a controlled environment and help the teachers teach effectively.  Load shedding is not a problem at Linkside Pre-Primary as we installed solar panels to ensure that our lights stay on and learning continues.

School Motto

Love • Laugh • Learn

Our school motto is LOVE • LAUGH • LEARN and it is summed up so well by Shannon Connell, the present Leopards teacher – “For the past 11 years Linkside has been a place of LOVE for me.  We have felt love and watched the boys share love for each other. Whether it was a hug or helping someone who got hurt on the playground. A place to LAUGH. We have heard the boys laughter in the class and on the playground.  We have laughed with the boys and with our colleagues.  It is our happy place! A place to LEARN. We have tried to instill a love of learning in each boy that has crossed our paths.  But most importantly, each child has helped us learn and grow into the teachers that we are today.”

  • 4 year Higher Diploma in Pre-Primary Education at Barkly House Teachers College, Cape Town
  • 1984 -1997 – Head of Pre-Primary at Sydenham Primary
  • 1997 – present – Principal and teacher at Linkside Pre-Primary
  • I am very privileged to be doing what I love. I am passionate about Linkside Pre-Primary and take my work in the classroom very seriously.
  • My aim for the boys is that they are happy, they try their best and they are liked by the other boys.
  • My goal is to instill confidence in the boys so that they can answer or question without feeling nervous, embarrassed or afraid. We follow a no-stress policy in my class – rather a ‘let’s make a plan’ policy.  Every boy is important to me and I look for the shy boy to give him the courage to speak up.
  • I also want to instill in the boys a love for learning and finding out things.
  • Our everyday goal is to always have FUN while we are learning!
